Newport & Cosby
TN:
Newport,
Tennessee is located
about a ½ hour’s drive east of Gatlinburg,
on the quieter side of the Smokys, Newport is a not-so-typical small
southern town. Like other small towns, our population is relatively small,
our folks are friendly, our crime rate is very low and we don’t
have near the tourists and traffic jams like those in Gatlinburg and
Pigeon Forge. Unlike most other small towns, Newport has many amenities
found only in larger cities such as: A top ranked hospital (Baptist),
a gorgeous 18-hole golf course, Super Wal-Mart, new movie theaters, a
new Lowe’s Home Improvement and a variety of restaurants (including
Cracker Barrel, Ruby Tuesday’s and Ryan’s) and several grocery
stores, banks etc… Newport is also strategically located just off
of Interstate 40 allowing for travel to Waynesville, Maggie Valley or
Cherokee, NC in less than an hour. The closest major airport is in Knoxville,
TN which is also less than an hour away. Both the main entrance to the
Great Smoky Mountains and Cherokee National Forest are located within
our county and within just about 10 minutes is Douglas Lake, well known
for its 500 miles of shoreline, sparkling water and great bass fishing.
We also have both, the Pigeon and French Broad Rivers running through
town and whitewater rafting is nearby. Our local schools and parks are
clean and well kept, and speaking of parks; Newport has two city pools,
one indoor and one outdoor, as well as, brand new tennis courts, beautiful
playgrounds and bar-b-que type picnic areas. Not too bad for a small
town!
Douglas Lake is
one of the premier recreational lakes in the entire southeastern U.S.
and is well
known for it’s fabulous fishing,
clear water and spectacular mountain views. Douglas Lake meanders through
our mountains for over 58 miles, covering three counties. In addition
to the great fishing, Douglas Lake is large enough so that there’s
plenty of room for the fisherman, skiers, pontoon boaters without anyone
feeling crowded. There are also quiet areas of the lake and you could
spend years exploring all of Douglas Lake’s hidden coves and enclaves.
Douglas Lake is also regularly maintained and cared for by the TVA in
order to provide hydro-electric power to the Tennessee Valley. Douglas
Lake is truly a remarkable body of water that is second to none.
Emerald Pointe is
an elegantly designed community on Douglas Lake and offers some of
the finest water access and mountain views in all of east
Tennessee. Our views really do seem to go on forever and ever with
endless views of our mountains and valley land and breathtaking views
of Douglas
Lake. Our paved and curbed streets gently wind through the pointe and
are quaintly lit with 1930’s circa street lamps. It’s easy
to find things to do on a Saturday afternoon at Emerald Pointe without
ever having to leave your own neighborhood. Our nature and golf cart
trails meander throughout the open greenspace and park areas of the neighborhood
providing quiet viewing of the many deer, turkey and other abundant wildlife.
Our private boat slips and fishing areas along the 3000 feet along the
water provide easy year around access to Douglas Lake. The clubhouse
is located on a high ridge overlooking the water and includes a large
area for gatherings or weddings, pool tables and game room and physical
fitness facilities. Of course there’s also the large covered porch,
complete with rocking chairs for enjoying the lake.
Although there is a limited number of lakefront sites, at Emerald Pointe,
nearly all of the homesites have breathtaking mountain and lake views
and every homesite at Emerald Pointe has direct, private access to
the lake and amenities at Emerald Point.
I hope you get the opportunity to visit one or all of our beautiful mountain
communities and I look forward to seeing you on your next visit to
the Smokies.
Sincerely,
Sincerely, Bryan
